You may choose among the following sites the ones that interest you the most. The tour has a duration of five hours, so pick and mix sites that add to a total of that.
Villages
Plaka Village – the capital of the island, here you will find traditional cycladic architecture, with the typical white homes and narrow cobblestone streets. You will learn about the village’s history and how the place transforms during the winter. Also, you will admire beautiful views of the entrance of the bay of Milos Island! (1 hour)
Adamas Village – Adamas is the port and the center of touristic activity on the island. There is a marina, shops and many restaurants in the area. The village’s rich past will be the focus of our tour, as you can see parts of its history mixed with the present. (1 hour and a half)
Pollonia Village – a fishing village in the northeastern tip of the island, Pollonia is THE place for fish! Want to see some fishing boats? Smell the sea and walk by the waves? This place is definitely for you. (1 hour and a half)
Sarakiniko Beach – the most famous beach on the island! Sarakiniko is a geological wonder known all over the world and definitely is among the first things that you come across when you google Milos. Come see what the fuss is all about! (1 hour)
Mandrakia Village – a small fishing village built on a bay with syrmata (=small houses that fishermen built to keep their boats inside during the winter). This village has many cats, ready to welcome you to their home! (1 hour)
Fyropotamos Village – another fishing village in the northern side of the island. There is an old docking facility for minerals and a beautiful small church, all next to crystal-clear blue waters… (1 hour)
Klima Village – fishing village in the entrance of the bay with lots of syrmata in a row. This is truly a one-of-a-kind place for you to visit, especially so during the sunset! (1 hour)
Museums and Archaeological Sites
Ancient settlement of Filakopi – dating from the 3rd and 2nd millennia BCE, this place was one of the hotspots of one of the first civilizations in the Greek area, called the Cycladic civilization. Now only its ruins stand above the waters. (30 minutes)
Archaeological Museum in Plaka – its exhibits show the island’s rich history from the Neolithic Period to Late Antiquity. There is a replica of the Venus de Milo statue. (1 hour)
Folklore Museum in Plaka – this old traditional Milos home was turned into a museum and it shows you how everyday life used to look like for people on the island. (1 hour)
Ecclesiastical Museum in Adamas – hosted in a church that is almost a thousand years old, the museum hosts important religious artifacts and is devoted to the Holy Trinity. There are two beautiful mosaics in its yard, made by a local craftsman. (1 hour)
Mining Museum in Adamas – the mining industry has been central to the island’s growth since ancient times. Here you will get information about the geological history of Milos and the sociocultural impact of the mines. (1 hour)
War Museum in Plaka – hosted in a World War Two bomb shelter, the museum offers exhibits about the island’s history in the two world wars. (1 hour)
Christian Catacombs – one of the most important monuments of early Christian worship, the extensive system of caves and tombs in the village of Tripiti is considered a must for everyone that visits the island! (45 minutes)
Ancient Theatre and Ancient Town of Klima – the ancient theatre, recovered in half from the ground, still stands majestic to this day! Come check its marvellous acoustics. You will also visit the discovery site of the Venus de Milo statue and the ruins of the ancient town of Klima. (45 minutes)
